Plan the site

Temporary Toilets for Construction and Renovation Sites

Construction sites are not static. The safest and most useful location at the start of excavation may be in the way once deliveries, framing, utilities, or paving begin. A worksite restroom plan should account for crew routines today and the next stage of work.

Give the site plan enough detail

A useful request includes the project address or general location, crew size, expected work hours, project duration, entrance, gate dimensions, overhead limitations, surface type, slope, and any areas that must remain open. Also identify material laydown areas, equipment routes, trenches, lifts, cranes, and temporary fencing.

Keep the approach out of the work zone

Place a unit where workers can reach it without crossing an active vehicle lane or walking through a hazardous operation. Maintain clear access around the unit and avoid low areas where rain or runoff may collect.

Match the plan to the crew’s day

A small renovation with a short crew schedule differs from a multi-phase build with several subcontractors. Discuss the expected users and whether the crew will work in one concentrated area or move across a large property.

Coordinate with the responsible parties

The general contractor, site superintendent, property owner, and rental provider may each have different responsibilities. Confirm who approves the placement, who provides access, whether the surface needs protection, and how a change in the work plan will be communicated.
